THE CELEBRATED CONCERT THAT MARKED THE RE-OPENING OF THE SYDNEY OPERA HOUSE CONCERT HALL In July 2022 the Concert Hall of the iconic Sydney Opera House re-opened after a major renovation which took over two years. The revamped acoustic of the Concert Hall was greeted with great acclaim. The Concert Hall reopened with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra performing Mahler’s monumental Symphony No. 2 “Resurrection”, under the direction of the Orchestra’s Chief Conductor, Simone Young. Completing the concert program was “Of the Earth”, by indigenous Australian composer William Barton, specially commissioned for the occasion. This recording marks Simone Young and the Sydney Symphony Orchestra’s debut on the Deutsche Grammophon label.
