Earth's third full-length album, 1996's Pentastar: In the Style of Demons, is a classic of languid riff-worship, oozing with a thick, fuzzed-out goop that melts together Black Sabbath, Hawkwind, Hendrix, drone, and ambient music. The result feels like a long, lonely drive through the desert, with inner and/or outer space as the only destination. Earth has had a vast influence on modern music, from experimental metal, electronic/ambient, to stoner rock, influencing artists from SUNN O))) to The Bug to Godflesh. Earth's story was documented in the acclaimed 2023 documentary Even Hell Has Its Heroes.
