Recorded across continents, time zones, and cultures, ItWas Always Time meticulously builds on itself, weavinglayers of found-sound samples over acoustic percussionto frame poignant saxophone melodies that melt into richsynth interludes. Although the album is almostcompletely improvised, the depth of texture and devotionto melody make it feel through-composed. From track totrack, each musician places their trust in the other, andas ambition evolves into empathy, the whole becomesgreater than the sum of its parts. This is not a protestalbum, or music that sets out to directly change theworld. Rather, in the subtle way that only art is capableof, the music made by this international duo of strangersturned friends is a reminder: Be curious, find joy, buildsomething better together.
